WHAT: TravelChoice is looking for people to canvass homes in the city of
Alameda. This is a chance to get paid to help people use
environmentally-friendly transportation modes. Canvassers will walk the
city of Alameda's beautiful tree-lined streets and talk with residents
about their transportation needs and interests, all while getting paid $15
per hour. This is the perfect job for activists looking to earn extra cash
      for the summer.

WHEN: Schedules are flexible. Shifts are weekday evenings from 6:00-8:30
      p.m. and weekends from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Act quickly, because Alameda
canvassers are only needed for the next five weeks.

BACKGROUND: TravelChoice is an innovative new program to reduce auto trips
that is coordinated by TALC. The program is currently conducting outreach
to the city of Alameda's East End. By July, TravelChoice will have
contacted approximately 3,000 households in the neighborhood, with the goal
of reducing solo driving trips by 9% by increasing transit usage, biking,
and walking. The educational campaign, which uses innovative social
marketing techniques, is modeled after similar projects around the world,
but has never before been tried in the Bay Area. Funding for TravelChoice
is provided by the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency, The
Transportation Fund for Clean Air, AC Transit, BART, Alameda County's
Public Health Department, and the cities of Alameda and Oakland.
