      Job Description:
      The Figueroa Corridor Community Land Trust is a broad, innovative,
      community-based effort to combat rapid gentrification and displacement in
      the core central neighborhoods of Los Angeles. The approach is to take a
      substantial amount of land off the speculative market, hold it
      in trust for the long-term, and develop affordable housing and other related
      and needed services. The effort is led by a collaborative of grassroots
      tenant leaders, a broad-based coalition, and non-profit housing developers
      with long histories working and living in the Figueroa Corridor

      Two key partners – the Los Angeles Community Design Center, a non-profit
      development organization and Strategic Actions for a Just Economy – will
      provide support and staffing to the Land Trust in the areas of real estate
      development and community planning.

      The Land Trust is seeking a creative, organized, and entrepreneurial
      individual to be its first Executive Director.

      Key responsibilities of the Executive Director include:

      •                 Coordination and development of a diverse and bilingual (Spanish/English)
      Board of Directors
      •                 Coordination and dissemination of information between project partners and
      •                 Building a membership structure, membership materials, and membership base
      •                 Working with community organizers to build political and other support for
      the Land Trust plans
      •                 Conducting outreach and education about the Land Trust in the community
      •                 Negotiating leases, development agreements and other components of land
      use planning and land acquisition
      •                 Ongoing development and monitoring of land leases and relationships with
      consultants, developers, property managers and tenants
      •                 Participating in broad-based planning efforts and development plans by
      project partners

      Key qualifications include:

      •                 Demonstrated Experience developing and/or managing a community
      •                 Experience with large-scale fundraising
      •                 Strong organizational skills that combine big picture thinking with
      attention to details
      •                 Basic understanding of land use and development issues – real estate
      development experience a plus
      •                 Ability to read and produce financial statements and reports
      •                 Strong verbal and written communication skills
      •                 Social justice commitment that is consistent with the goals of the Land
      •                 Ability to work with grassroots leaders and public officials equally well
      •                 Bilingual (Spanish/English)

      Salary range:                 Commensurate to experience.
