      JOB DESCRIPTION
      MARKETING DIRECTOR

      The Downtown Berkeley Association (DBA) seeks a Marketing Director to work on behalf of the
      businesses located in Berkeley's central commercial district. The DBA's mission is to help improve
      the vitality of downtown Berkeley through promotion and advocacy efforts. We support our
      membership by collaborating with community partners at all levels of government, business, and at
      UC Berkeley.

      The Marketing Director leads all aspects of our marketing program as detailed below and works
      under the supervision and with support from the Executive Director and our Board of Directors in
      an office supported by one Administrator.

      The DBA is a non-profit organization that has been operating for sixteen years, and is funded on
      an annual basis by member fees.

      Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Develop and implement the annual marketing plan, including much of the project administration.
      • Produce and maintain DBA marketing materials ­ including the newsletter, brochures, and web
      site.
      • Support the production of meetings and events such as the Annual Meeting, Summer Noon Concerts,
      Cal Day, and Caltopia, and more including by recruiting, training, and supervising
       volunteers.
      • Represent the DBA at events such as City Council or Commission meetings, merchant meetings, and
      community events.
      • Provide staff leadership and support to the Promotion Committee, and to other committees as
      requested. Including to prepare agendas, minutes, and other materials.
      • Conduct effective media and advertising strategies including press releases and group
      advertising.

      Salary Range:
      The salary will be $33,000-35,000 depending on experience, and includes health and dental
      benefits.

      Experience:
      Responsible assignments in marketing and public relations including advertising and promotion;
      publication writing, editing, design; special events planning and management. Computers: Word,
      Excel, Page Maker, PhotoShop, FileMaker Pro, InDesign. Familiar with PC and MAC.
