           Planners/Environmental Planners - Project Managers

           Design, Community & Environment has openings for mid- to senior-level
      (Associate and Senior Associate) Planners/Environmental Planners with strong
      project management experience.

           Associates and Senior Associates at DC&E are responsible for managing
      comprehensive planning and CEQA projects in a collaborative environment.

           Projects are generally in Northern California, but also include some
      in Southern California.

             a.. Applicants for this position should have the ability to manage
      projects with minimal Principal oversight and work as a self-starter.
      Specific activities are likely to include: Schedule and budget adherence
             b.. Subconsultant coordination
             c.. Client contact
             d.. Staff coordination and management
             e.. Proposal and report writing
             f.. Research on land use, policy, planning and technical topics, and
      synthesis and presentation of information from existing documents and
      subconsultant reports
             g.. Writing and editing of planning related documents such as
      existing conditions reports, sections of Environmental Impact Reports,
      General Plans and Specific Plans.
             h.. Public presentations.
             i.. Meeting facilitation.
           Applicants should be able to work in Microsoft Word and Excel.
      Familiarity with PowerPoint, Access and graphics applications (Illustrator,
      Quark, Pagemaker and/or Photoshop) is a plus. GIS experience is also a plus.

           Entry-Level Urban Designer

           Design, Community & Environment, an urban design and city planning
      firm in North Berkeley, is currently hiring urban designers with 2-3 years
      of professional experience, preferably in architecture .

           DC&E's urban design work includes conceptual architectural design,
      transit-oriented development design, downtown revitalization, design
      guidelines, streetscape plans, and Specific Plans. Depending on an
      individual's level of experience, activities include:

             a.. Project management
             b.. Client contact
             c.. Plan and elevation drawing
             d.. Production of graphic diagrams for urban design projects
             e.. Hand drawing
             f.. Computer graphics
             g.. Proposal and report writing
           Salary and responsibilities will be set commensurate with the level of
