Fwd: CP&DR goes to the movies ... again
- If you're not already on the Ca Planning & Development Report dist.list,
consider joining at no cost -
It would be great for UPC and URBP to actually subscribe.
If any individual or planning firm is interested in sponsoring a membership
for UPC - the issues would be placed in our library for the entire dept. to
use, please contact me.

Dear Friends --
What could be more American than movies and conventions? Maybe that's why
we've chosen to feature both this week on www.cp-dr.com, the web site of
California Planning & Development Report.
Many of you will recall our article a few weeks ago on John Sayles' "urban
planning movie," Sunshine State. This week, we go back to the movies -- this
time to share with you some of our readers' and friends' favorite movies.
Simply go to www.cp-dr.com and click on the headline to read the whole
story. And stay tuned for our upcoming online survey, in which you can vote
for your favorite urban planning movie of all time!
Conventions are as American as urban planning movies, so while you're at it
you can also read my recent column from Governing magazines about public
subsidies for convention hotels, whcih we've also posted today. And you can
still read our article from the August newsletter about San Diego's "City of
Villages" planning effort.
While you're at it, you might want to check out a sample copy of the entire
California Planning & Development Report, as well as the book discounts and
online archives you can access with a subscription. To find out how you can
get CP&DR in the mail every month, as well as full access on-line, click
