      PhD Position Available

      Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning
      University of Massachusetts, Amherst

      Topic: Community Preparedness for Natural Disasters: Wildfire

      Faculty in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning at
      the University of Massachusetts are seeking qualified doctoral applicants for
      the PhD in Regional Planning program who are interested in pursuing research
      in community preparedness for natural disasters, specifically wildfire.  We
      currently have multi-year funding to support a new candidate in this program
      to pursue this area of research.  For more information about our research

      Criteria for Selection:  Background in social science research, survey
      research, including survey writing, sample selection and data analysis, and
      natural resources are strongly desired.  Candidates with master’s degrees in
      planning as well as the human dimensions of natural resources or related
      fields are strongly encouraged to apply.  Successful applicants must have
      strong academic credentials and be accepted into the doctoral program.  
      Research work will begin as early as spring/summer 2006.
