      Community Organizing Position

      Alameda County Supervisor, Keith Carson is looking for
      a smart hard working individual to develop a network
      of community-based organizations and individuals
      interested in improving the quality of life for
      District 5 residents.

      District 5 includes Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville,
      Piedmont, North Oakland, West Oakland, Montclair,
      Trestle Glen and a portion of the San Antonio
      neighborhood.

      Expected Duties:

      ·Interfacing and acting as a liaison to community
      based-organizations, local neighborhood groups and
      constituents
      ·Developing and implementing a plan which allows
      community based-organizations, local neighborhood
      groups and constituents to interface with Supervisor
      Carson on a regular basis
      ·Investigating and responding to concerns and
      complaints from community advocacy groups and members
      of the public


      Knowledge, Abilities, Qualifications and Requirements:

      Knowledge:

      ·Strong community organizing skills
      ·Information dissemination techniques and methods
      ·English grammar, spelling, syntax and punctuation
      ·Bilingual is preferred, but not required

      Ability to:


      ·Work independently
      ·Organize and prioritize work and meet critical
      deadlines
      ·Exercise sound independent judgment within
      established policies and guidelines
      ·Prepare clear, accurate and effective reports,
      correspondence, newsletters and other written
      materials
      ·Interpret, explain and apply complex policies,
      regulations, and procedures
      ·Exercise decision-making, analytical and problem
      solving skills
      ·Clearly articulate the Supervisor’s position in a
      public setting


      Minimum Qualifications:

      At least 45 credit hours at an accredited college or
      university with a major in public relations,
      journalism, communications, political science, public
      administration, education, sociology or a closely
      related field.

      Licenses and other Requirements:

      Job requires a car and valid driver’s license.

      Hours:

      Flexible hours during the day plus evening and/or
      weekend meetings.

      Salary:

      $15 hr.
