      Dr. Richard Jackson, MD, MPH, former State Public Health Officer for
      California , author of Urban Sprawl and Public Health (published 2004)
      Dr. Rajiv Bhatia, MD, MPH, Director of Occupational and Environmental Health
      with the San Francisco Department of Public Health

      Join us for an evening with two dynamic speakers who are at the cutting edge
      of the movement to connect public health to transportation and land use.
      Hear about the latest information on the connections between
      transit-oriented development and hot-button health issues such as obesity,
      asthma, and cancer, as well as lesser-publicized issues. Learn about new
      tools to make these connections, how you can use them to be a better
      advocate, and how to get health officials involved in transportation and
      land use decisions.

      3) Campaign update on New Transportation Funding -- 5:45

      Over the past six months, TALC's Transportation Funding Working Group has
      been conducting research and meeting to develop recommendations for new
      transportation revenue sources. Hear from Stuart Cohen, TALC's Executive
      Director, about some of the potential long-term funding mechanisms being
      considered, give feedback to guide the Working Group, and learn how you can
      get involved.

      4) Health and Smart Growth: Making the Connections -- 6:00

      Join us for an evening with two dynamic speakers who are at the cutting edge
      of the movement to connect public health to transportation and land use.
      Hear about the latest information on the connections between
      transit-oriented development and hot-button health issues such as obesity,
      asthma, and cancer, as well as lesser-publicized issues. Learn about new

      currently Professor at UC Berkeley School of Public Health, and long-time
      director of the CDC's Center for Environmental Health.

      We will follow their presentations with a Question & Answer session so you
      can get the most from these two leading public health officials.
