Just a reminder that Dr. Roger Kemp, City Manager of Vallejo, will be at the Institute of Urban and Regional Development, 316 Wurster Hall, University of California at Berkeley, on Wednesday, November 9, at noon, discussing the book CITIES AND THE ARTS: A HANDBOOK FOR RENEWAL, which he edited.
Citizens, nonprofit organizations, and local public officials increasingly use the arts to improve their downtowns and enhance general economic conditions. A new eclectic economic development model has evolved and is beginning to work in a number of politically, economically, racially, and culturally diverse communities throughout America.
The book includes numerous case studies that show how cities are using the arts to stimulate both downtown and neighborhood revitalization.
