      PORTOLA NEIGHBORHOOD STEERING COMMITTEE WITH FAMILY CONNECTIONS
      Neighborhood Revitalization Program Coordinator
      Full time position- AmeriCorps Position Description (also attached)

      The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator will work directly with the Portola
      Neighborhood Committee, - a community-driven group comprised of residents,
      merchants and community organizations actively developing & implementing a
      vision for the future of San Bruno Avenue - to implement the Action Plan.
      The community's Action Plan is a working blueprint with list improvements
      that will make San Bruno Avenue a vital commercial district with an active
      set of merchants.  It lays out basic implementation steps to guide the
      community's efforts towards accomplishing these objectives.
      The Steering Committee with support from the Program Coordinator will
      implement the Action Plan and monitor its progress. The commercial
      revitalization program for the neighborhood will come under the direction
      and leadership of the community steering committee working with the Program
      Coordinator, local community organizations, volunteer committees and city
      agencies as needed to carry out the specific actions.

      RESPONSIBILITIES
        * Help coordinate and facilitate Committee and community meetings and
      coordinate working subcommittees
        * Coordinate selected commercial corridor revitalization projects (e.g.
      merchant watch program, promotions, business    attraction)
        * Perform targeted outreach and recruitment to individuals, merchants, &
      businesses to increase participation and diversity in the revitalization
      project
        * Recruit and manage volunteers for special events that promote the San
      Bruno Ave. commercial corridor and maintain a sense of community pride
        * Maintain & update building and business inventory database including
      merchant contacts, vacancy, cleanliness, etc.
        * Moderate the listserv and maintain participant/stakeholder database and
      communication
        * Assist the Steering Committee with fundraising efforts (i.e. grant
      writing and reporting)
        * Periodic outreach on behalf of other Family Connections programs
      including, conducting outreach around programs, and general representation
      of Family Connections in various functions

      DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
        * Experience with community organizing
        * Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
        * Motivated self-starter
        * Leadership experience
        * Experience with small businesses preferred
        * Bilingual English Cantonese strongly preferred

      AMERICORPS COMPENSATION
        * Monthly living allowance totaling $18,000 for the entire year
        * Educational award of $4,750 after completing a year of full-time
      community service.  Award may be used to repay higher    education loans or
      to pay for higher education or training.
        * Full health and dental benefits
        * Childcare provided to eligible applicants
        * Training Opportunities:
           -  One-week of national LISC AmeriCorps training
           -  Monthly trainings in the Bay Area.
           -  Bi-monthly commercial corridor peer network and training sessions
           -  Two-days of local orientation training
           -  Three to four periodic trainings on topics relevant to the work
           -  Two community service projects
