Job Announcement: NYC Apollo Alliance Campaign Director
Urban Agenda, a research, policy, and advocacy organization affiliated with
the NYC Central Labor Council and the Institute for Worker Education and
Labor Studies, seeks a full-time Campaign Director to oversee its NYC Apollo
NYC Apollo is a coalition of labor unions, environmental justice advocates,
businesses, educators, and community based organizations. The coalition
seeks to foster job creation, reduce energy dependency, and promote economic
and environmental justice for communities most adversely affected by energy
and economic development planning in New York City. NYC Apollo is part of a
national movement, the Apollo Alliance.
The Campaign Director would have the following responsibilities:
? Facilitate the NYC Apollo coalition and campaign.
? Develop campaign strategies and goals for advancing
healthy schools, high performance affordable housing, sustainable economic
development, and energy efficiency.
? Oversee all NYC Apollo advocacy, communications,
research, education, and public policy initiatives related to the campaign
? Deepen and broaden the coalition among labor unions,
environmental justice advocates, businesses, educators, and community-based
organizations, and build support in the faith and civil rights communities.
? Represent NYC Apollo in public events, conferences,
government hearings, and in the press.
? Serve as liaison to national Apollo Alliance.
? Oversee NYC Apollo Communications Associate, interns
The ideal candidate will have:
? A minimum of three years of campaign management
experience, and ability to work with diverse stakeholder populations.
? A deep knowledge of NYC politics and city agencies
. Excellent organizational, writing, and communication
. A firm commitment to social, economic, and
. An ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven
. Knowledge of labor and environmental justice issues and
movements is strongly desirable.
Interest and experience in fundraising desired but not required, as is the
ability to speak Spanish.
