Subject: Commission Vacancy

From: Supervisor Blanca Alvarado
I am very interested in quickly filling a vacancy on the Housing and
Community Development Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC). This is an
important committee that allocates Federal funds to the County for a variety
of housing projects that include housing for domestic violence survivors,
property acquisition for emergency housing, and infrastructure improvements
such as street lights. The CAC is involved in all phases of the Santa Clara
County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and is specifically
involved in the following:
a.. Planning Monitoring Evaluation Citizen Participation Outreach
Typically, the Committee meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month;
less frequently during the summer and more frequently from March through May
when the CAC makes decisions concerning funding recommendations. Meetings
are usually at 7:00 pm and held at the Housing Authority on West Julian
The appointee will represent low-income members, residents of target
neighborhoods, and/or members of minority groups. This is a great
opportunity to give back to our community and to work with others in
improving the quality of life for needy families.
Appointments are for a 1-year term and there are no term limits.
