      VISITACION VALLEY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
      Visitacion Valley Business Opportunities and Outreach to Merchant
      Project Manager Position (Fulltime)
      Deadline July 15, 2005

      Visitacion Valley Business Opportunity Outreach to Merchants (VVBOOM) is a collaborative of local
      community, public service agencies, and businesses formed to address the new changes in Visitacion
      Valley’s business district.  VVBOOM wishes to implement its Action Plan that will help to enhance
      businesses in Visitacion Valley and provide outreach and opportunities to existing business and to
      merchants.  The community’s Action Plan is the working blueprint for a variety of enhancements in
      the area. It identifies specific improvements to make Leland/Bayshore, an attractive and vital
      commercial district, and lays out basic implementation steps to guide the community’s efforts
      towards accomplishing these objectives. All progress in implementing this commercial
      revitalization program for the neighborhood will come under the direction and leadership of the
      VVBOOM community steering committee working with a program manager, local community organizations,
      volunteer committees and city agencies as needed to carry out the specific actions. Visitacion
      Valley Community Development Corporation (VVCDC) will be the lead administrator of the
      Revitalization Project and seeks a Project Manager to help VVBOOM accomplish its Work Plan goals.

      VVCDC, a community based non-profit, was established in 1992 to represent the interests of those
      displaced by the demolition of the Geneva Towers housing project. VVCDC has evolved over the years
      to serve the residents and business community of the culturally diverse Visitacion Valley
      neighborhood. VVCDC will supervise and administer the VVBOOM program and the Project Manager
      position.  The Project Manager will work closely with the members of VVBOOM and under the direct
      supervision of VVCDC’s executive director.  For additional information about VVCDC, please refer

      Responsibilities:
      ·                 Monitor and update annual work program based on the VVBOOM Action Plan
      ·                 Develop and manage annual project budget and report
      ·                 Assist with fundraising, especially grant writing, administer grants and insure that
      communications with funders are provided in a timely and professional manner
      ·                 Facilitate workshops, meetings and coordinate the working committees
      ·                 Perform targeted outreach and recruitment to individuals, & businesses to increase participation
      and diversity in revitalization project
      ·                 Event planning and coordinating volunteers to promote Leland/Bayshore commercial corridor and
      increase community pride
      ·                 Educate, communicate, and work with public, the media, and elected officials around the project
      ·                 Maintain & update building and business inventory database including merchant contacts, vacancy,
      cleanliness, etc.
      ·                 Moderate the listserve and maintain participant/stakeholder database and communication
      ·                 Actively participate in membership campaign
      ·                 Other responsibilities as requested by the VVCDC Executive Director

      Knowledge/Skills required by the job:
      *                 Bachelors degree or a minimum of three years experience in organizational, economic/business or
      community development.
      *                 Experience with project management, group facilitation, public relations and public speaking
      *                 Demonstrated ability to be a leader and work as a member of a team
      *                 Resourceful, Ability to recruit and manage volunteers
      *                 Bilingual in Chinese/English Preferred
      *                 Excellent writing skill
      *                 Commitment to social justice and belief in the positive power of community organizing
      *                 Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain sense of humor and positive attitude in a fast paced
      environment
      *                 Must be able to work independently and multi task

      Reports to: Executive Director
      Selection Process: VVBOOM Steering Committee will review and conduct interviews of qualified
      candidates
      Salary: Salary 35K – 42K based on experience. Benefits include health and dental insurance plus
      vacation and holiday pay.
