Job Title: Program Manager, Environmental Entrepreneurs
Organization: Natural Resources Defense Council

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is seeking an experienced
professional to lead Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2), a major NRDC
volunteer committee comprised of business executives working to advance
’s policy goals and provide more than $1.7 million in financial support.
NRDC is a national non-profit environmental organization with offices in
York, Washington DC, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Our scientists,
lawyers, economists, and public policy analysts work to preserve and enhance
the integrity of the environment, protect public health, and provide for
conservation and wise management of land and natural resources.
Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) was formed by two NRDC trustees 5 years
to provide business people with a vehicle for environmental advocacy, to
speak out to legislators and others that good environmental policy is also
good for business, and to provide financial support for NRDC. It
than 600 members, and chapters in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York
Boston. Each chapter holds approximately 5 educational events a year
engages in regional and national policy debates.
Working with an associate and an assistant, the E2 manager is responsible
for every aspect of E2’s program: working closely with NRDC’s advocacy
program staff to make the best use of E2’s advocacy potential; producing
events in Northern California; organizing E2’s lobbying activities; and
working closely with NRDC’s Director of Development for Northern California
to meet and exceed E2’s annual $1.7 million fundraising target.
This position requires strong interpersonal skills, an interest in and
facility with environmental activism and the legislative process, and the
ability to make judgment calls in a variety of situations. At least three
years of staff management experience is required. Background in business,
communications, environmental advocacy, politics or non-profit fundraising
and management a plus.
