      Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors member, John Gioia, is seeking a
      highly motivated individual to function as a District Coordinator
      responsible for managing projects and constituent issues in the Board of
      Supervisors' District I Office. It offers competitive health and retirement

      County government operations and to work with other governmental agencies,
      constituents, community groups, and County staff. District One includes the
      West Contra Costa Communities of Richmond, El Cerrito, San Pablo,
      Kensington, El Sobrante, Montalvin Manor, East Richmond Heights, and
      Rollingwood. The Supervisor’s office is involved with a wide range of issues
      that include healthcare, affordable housing, environmental justice,
      transportation, land use, public safety, and community coalition building.

      The Position

      As a District Coordinator, the person appointed to this exempt, at-will
      position is responsible for responding to constituent concerns, handling
      projects, working with County staff, and coordinating community meetings.
      The duties and responsibilities include:

       a.. Overall support activities involving work on project assignments, as
      well as research, analysis, and monitoring of issues, including concerns
      raised by constituents.
       b.. Community relations activity as a representative of the Board member
      at meetings, making presentations, and interacting with a variety of groups,
      organizations and associations, including staff at the city, county, and
      federal government levels.
       c.. Handling constituent concerns, issues, and the referral of
      constituents to appropriate resources.
       d.. Miscellaneous duties such as serving on ad hoc committees, managing
      special projects, reviewing Board of Supervisors agenda items, and
      researching and obtaining information from County departments and a variety
      of other sources in order to resolve questions for the Board of Supervisors'
      member.
      Qualifications

      This is a full time position that requires an individual with excellent
      people skills, strong organizational skills, and self-motivation. We are
      seeking candidates with strong computer skills, the ability to analyze data
      and problems and to recommend viable solutions, and the ability to
      communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. The applicant
      should have a commitment to public service, understand the intricacies of
      representing a public official, and be able to work effectively in varied
      environments.  The District Coordinator should also have a good sense of
      humor, be fair-minded and supportive of colleagues, be a good listener, a
      problem-solver, diplomatic and confident. Spanish-speaking ability is
      preferred. Residency in Contra Costa County in an area encompassed by
      District One is desirable, but not required.
