      Grant Writer & Resource Developer

      Lawrence CommunityWorks (LCW) is a nonprofit community development
      corporation working with over 1000 resident and stakeholder members to
      transform the physical, economic, civic, and social landscape of Lawrence, a
      struggling but vital former mill City with a large immigrant and Latino
      population.  We create a growing network of Lawrencians engaged in building
      family and community assets, providing each other with mutual support, and
      taking collective action to advance the revitalization of the City.
      Activities include: 1) community organizing, leadership development, and
      neighborhood planning, 2) affordable housing development, a community
      learning center, and park development, 3) youth and adult educational and
      asset-building programs involving 300 families annually.

      LCW seeks a full-time, experienced person to assist the Director of Resource
      Development (RD) in conducting the fund-raising activities of LCW (budget of
      approximately $1.5 million), with a particular focus on foundation,
      corporate, and government proposal writing.  Duties include:

      Grant Writing: Foundation, Corporate and Government
      a.       Research prospective funders – local, state and national (includes
      investigation of leads generated elsewhere in the organization)

      b.       Work with RD Director and Department heads to assess departmental
      needs and target feasibility, and to strategize approaches

      c.       Initiate contacts and relationships with key funding source

      d.       Draft and coordinate submission of proposals and reports

      e.       Coordinate and maintain funder correspondence and relationships

      f.        Maintain funding history files

      Individual Donor Development
       1.. Manage LCW Annual Appeal Process
      1.       Work with staff and board to update and expand individual donor
      mailing list

      2.       Work with RD Director to create appeal letter

      3.       Coordinate mailing process (supplies, scheduling, letter
      personalization, etc.)

      4.       Correspondence including thank you notes, updates, and cultivation

      b.       Assist RD Director in researching and cultivating major donor

      In-Kind Contributions
       1.. Research potential contributions
       2.. Coordinate appropriate solicitation of in-kind gifts
       3.. Track and cultivate in-kind giving


      ·         Bachelor’s Degree

      ·         Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills (writing
      sample required with application)

      ·         Minimum two years successful experience in grant writing or
      resource development

      ·         Excellent organizational and time management skills

      ·         Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and take
      initiative but also participate productively in team projects and efforts

      ·         Knowledge of community development, organizing, youth development,
      and/or asset-building fields

      ·         Bilingual / bicultural in Spanish / English a plus
