      1701-B So Bascom Ave

      Campbell, CA 95008

The City of San Jose's Strong Neighborhood Initiative,
San Jose State University’s Center for
Service-Learning (CSL) and The Health Trust (THT) have
established a partnership to help improve the health
of low-income residents in central Santa Clara County.
The community is culturally diverse; more than 60% of
County residents are immigrants or children of
immigrants. VISTA members will help to identify
community assets and needs related to health, link
student service-learners and volunteers to community
health collaborative efforts, evaluate program impact,
and carry out publicity and fundraising activities to
sustain those efforts. The CSL works with faculty,
students, and community partners to create and sustain
      meaningful course-based service-learning opportunities
and to encourage lifelong civic engagement of
students. THT supports a wide range of programs to
meet the health needs of underserved County residents,
      including school-based health clinics, Meals-on
Wheels, a case management program for individuals with
HIV and other chronic illnesses. It also convenes
collaborate community groups to address key health
