      Job Description:
      The Mission Economic Development Association (MEDA) is a community-based,
      local economic development organization, which, for over 30 years, has
      worked to improve economic and social conditions in San Francisco’s Mission
      District.  It works primarily with low-income clients, focusing on small
      business owners that serve the monolingual Spanish-speaking immigrant
      community.

      In collaboration with MEDA’s urban planning staff and other business
      technical assistance staff, the business consultant will be responsible for
      providing technical assistance and other work efforts directed at supporting
      the small business sector of San Francisco.

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
      •              Provide one-on-one management consulting, marketing,
      budgeting, and accounting assistance
      •              Develop business and marketing plans, including financial
      projections loan proposals
      •              Write curriculum, outreach and deliver business related
      workshops
      •              Identify & determine feasibility for potential business
      development opportunities
      •              Develop working relationships with lending institutions, city
      agencies, and other relevant industry contacts
      •              Assist businesses to design and implement procedures to
      improve accounting, marketing and merchandising, operations, and other
      business processes
      •              Identify & determine feasibility for potential business
      development opportunities
      •              Assist in increasing merchant participation in neighborhood
      decision-making processes
      •              Assist in reporting program outcomes to all relevant
      organizations

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      •              Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or other
      related field
      •              Understanding of small business planning and bank lending
      practices
      •              Experience in lending, finance, or accounting
      •              Excellent quantitative and financial analysis skills
      •              Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
      •              Fluency in Spanish required.
      •              Excellent computer skills, web experience a plus.
      •              Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
      •              Ability to work some evenings & weekends
      •              2 years relevant experience
