      DIRECTOR OF PLANNING, POLICY & DEVELOPMENT

      Position Description

      The Transportation and Land Use Collaborative of Southern California is a
      nonprofit corporation whose mission is to engage, inform, educate and
      involve a broad cross-section of public sector, private sector and community
      based stakeholders in developing the policies and processes necessary to
      manage Southern California's future growth and assure its quality of life.

      The preferred candidate will possess a passion for land-use and
      transportation planning, strong organizational, office, writing and personal
      skills, the ability to work with elected and other public officials, fiscal
      management experience and excellent public relations and communications
      qualifications.  Expertise in special event fundraising, proven team
      building skills and the ability to speak Spanish are essential. Strong
      contacts and affiliations in the planning, development and public sector are
      highly desirable.

      Responsibilities include:

      Business and Resource Development
      Creates proposals for grants and public planning contracts.

      Board Administration and Support
      Supports operations and administration of Board and Advisory Board by
      advising and informing Board members, and interfacing between Board and
      staff.

      Program, Product and Service Delivery
      Oversees design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs,
      products and services

      Financial, Tax, Risk and Facilities Management
      Supervises the Director of Operations in recommending yearly budget for
      Board approval and managing organization's resources within those budget
      guidelines.

      Human Resource Management
      With the Director of Operations, assists in managing the human resources of
      the organization according to authorized personnel policies and procedures
      that fully conform to current laws and regulations.

      Community and Public Relations
      Assures that TLUC and its mission, programs, products and services are
      consistently presented in strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders

      Fundraising
      Oversees fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying
      resource requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies
      to approach funders, submitting proposals and administrating fundraising
      records and documentation
      Communications
      In consultation with Board Chair and Director of Operations, drafts
      editorials, commentaries and policy papers that communicate TLUC’s position
      on issues of public policy, planning, and real estate development.

      Qualifications:
      Three to five years work experience in planning, public policy, advocacy
      and/or real estate development. Master’s degree in urban planning, business
      administration or related field preferred. Ability to speak and understand
      Spanish is essential.

      Compensation
      Commensurate with qualifications and level of experience

      PROJECT MANAGER


      Position Description

      The Transportation and Land Use Collaborative of Southern California is a
      nonprofit corporation whose mission is to engage, inform, educate and
      involve a broad cross-section of public sector, private sector and community
      based stakeholders in developing the policies and processes necessary to
      manage Southern California's future growth and assure its quality of life.

      TLUC is currently seeking an experienced project manager for community
      outreach and planning projects in Los Angeles County. The ideal candidate
      will have a passion for land-use and transportation planning, strong
      organizational, office, writing and personal skills, and the ability to work
      with elected and other public officials.

      Responsibilities include:

      *         Create and maintain project baseline and critical task schedule
      *         Work with Director of Planning, Policy & Development to uphold
      resource allocation plan commensurate with contract/grant
      *         Cultivate partnerships with public and private organizations to
      leverage grant/contract resources
      *         Schedule, coordinate and facilitate community meetings
      *         Work closely with local, regional and state government staff to
      expedite project(s)
      *         Submit weekly progress report and activity summary to Director of
      Planning, Policy & Development

      Qualifications
      Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, business
      administration or related field and two years work experience in planning,
      public policy, advocacy or real estate development required. The ability to
      speak Spanish is a must. Masters Degree in Urban Planning, Public or
      Business Administration with three years experience working with nonprofit
      organizations in the field of land use planning/transportation is preferred.

      Compensation
      DOQ – Salary commensurate with level of experience, exposure to planning,
      development industry, and performance.

      INTERN

      Position Description

      The Transportation and Land Use Collaborative of Southern California (TLUC)
      is looking for an Intern to work with a growing non-profit organization on
      planning and growth-related issues and projects, organizational matters, and
      general office work.
      We are a full service nonprofit focusing on regional planning in the Los
      Angeles Region ( www.tluc.net <http://www.tluc.net/> ).

      The Intern position will serve as support staff on TLUC’s planning and
      community outreach projects, including but not limited to: Latino New
      Urbanism II Conference, Envision La Brea, South Gate General Plan Update, El
      Monte General Plan Update, and the Coachella Valley for Healthy Living
      Project. Tasks will include: communications with local planning departments
      and staff, community meeting logistics, outreach to local community members,
      conference management and logistics, and general office support.

      Eligible candidates will have an academic or a professional background, or
      general interest in land use planning, transportation issues, environmental
      issues/policies, economic development, public health, and nonprofit
      organizations.

      Required skills include familiarity with MS Office XP programs (Word, Excel,
      etc.) and the Internet, good people and telephone skills, and other office
      abilities. Bilingual a plus.

      Hours are flexible, including some evenings and Saturdays.   Some evening
      community meetings may be necessary.
