      Don’t miss it!

Implications of High Speed Rail and Caltrain for the
      Peninsula and Its Historic Downtowns

Bob Doty, Rod Diridon, Hans Korve, and Michael
      Freedman

      Wednesday, May 4, 2005

      6:00pm

The Little Fox Theatre, Downtown Redwood City

      $10.00 fee payable at door

      NO RSVP REQUIRED

A special two-hour “The Forum at Redwood City: A
Continuing Conversation on City Design” will be
      held on WEDNESDAY, May 4, 2005, from 6:00 - 8:00pm!
Please join us for a dynamic and interactive panel
discussion on “The Implications of High Speed
Rail and Caltrain for the Peninsula and Its Historic
      Downtowns.”

This dynamic session of The Forum at Redwood City will
examine how train service on the Peninsula is changing
in two important ways. Caltrain is substantially
changing the way it operates and High Speed Rail,
which will allow quick trips between northern and
southern California, is on the horizon.

At the Forum, we will explore these changes in rail
services, the favorable and unfavorable impacts they
are likely to have on the communities of the
Peninsula, and steps that can be taken to take
advantage of the benefits and minimize the impacts.

We invite you to join the region’s top planners,
engineers, architects, designers and community leaders
as they gather in Redwood City on May 4th for an
exciting evening of engaging presentation and lively
dialogue with the following four experienced and
      thought-provoking speakers:

      * Bob Doty, Director of Rail Transportation,
SAMTRANS --- on Caltrain: Current and Projected
Service Changes, including the Baby Bullet express
service, electrification, and the Dumbarton rail
      extension;
      * Rod Diridon, Executive Director, Mineta
Transportation Institute and Chair of the California
High Speed Rail Authority Board --- on High Speed
Rail: What it is, why it’s needed, when
      it’s coming;
      * Hans Korve, Principal, Korve Engineering --- on
Issues Communities Should Be Aware Of From A
      Transportation Engineer’s Perspective; and
      * Michael Freedman, Principal, Freedman Tung &
Bottomley --- on Issues Communities Should Be Aware Of
      From An Urban Design Perspective.
