Application forms for the 2002-2003 Pre-Doctorall Program are available in the Graduate Studies & Research Office at SJSU. Each Pre-Doctoral award is $ 3,000.

This program is designed to increase the diversity of the pool of potential faculty by supporting the doctoral aspirations of diverse CSU students. Each of the selected pre-doctoral scholars works closely with a CSU faculty sponsor to develop overall plans leading ultimately to enrollment in a doctoral program.

To be eligible to receive funds, applicants must be enrolled in SJSU during both the application period (Spring 2002) and at least one term of the following academic year (2002-2003).

Junior, senior and graduate students in the CSU, especially those from groups underrepresented in their fields, receive funding for: visits to PhD granting institutions to explore opportunities for doctoral study; travel to a national symposium or professional meeting; membership in professional organizations and journal subscriptions; graduate school applications and test fees. Those who receive the awards are eligible to participate in a fully funded summer research internship at a doctoral-granting campus.

Applications and faculty sponsor forms may be obtained in the Graduate Studies & Research Office (Student Services Center) or online at  http://www.CalState.edu/predoc/

The campus will supply needed transcripts at no cost to the student. The campus deadline for completed applications and faculty sponsor forms is APRIL 2, 2002. Please submit all materials to the Graduate Studies & Research Office on or before that date.
