Redevelopment/CITY MANAGEMENT Internship
The City of Pinole Redevelopment Agency invites applicants for a Redevelopment Intern position in its Community Development Department. The City is seeking graduate or undergraduate student interns to provide assistance with a wide range of redevelopment and city management projects.
$12-14/hour, DOQ (under review)
30-40 hours/week through Summer 2005; possible 16-20 hours (flex)/week through Spring 2006
Examples of Duties
The following programs and projects are available for participation and/or development.
� New Development. Provide assistance to various development projects throughout the City, including several proposed downtown mixed-use projects and recreational facilities.
� Residential Rehabilitation Program and Commercial Rehabilitation Program. Assist with allocating loans and grants for the improvement of single family homes, apartments, and commercial structures throughout the Redevelopment Project Area; assist with loan portfolio management.
� Community Clean-Up/Beautification. Assist with programs that utilize local community groups to remove blight from the Redevelopment Project Area.
� Marketing/Events. Help develop and implement marketing programs and special events and promotions for the historic Old Town area. Past activities have included a �Shop Old Town� advertising campaign, �Fall in Love with Old Town� contest, and �Taste of Old Town� event.
� Housing Program. Assist with activities related to the city�s affordable housing program.
The City of Pinole, population approx. 20,000, is located on San Pablo Bay, 15 minutes from Berkeley and 30 minutes from San Francisco. Pinole�s Redevelopment Agency has an annual budget of over $10 million. For additional information, visit our website at http://www.ci.pinole.ca.us.
The City of Pinole has worked with previous interns on professional reports and master�s theses; many of the City�s projects are suitable for development as academic projects. City interns gain valuable experience in project management and redevelopment practice. Previous interns have gone onto full-time employment with, among other agencies, the cities of San Jose, Berkeley, Pleasanton, Pleasant Hill, San Leandro, and Pinole.
