      Assistant Coordinator

      The Bay Area Bicycle Coalition is looking to hire a Bike to Work Day
      Assistant Coordinator on a temporary basis.  The Assistant Coordinator
      will work 20 hours per week from the hire date until June 3, 2005, out
      of the BABC's  Novato office.

      We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about cycling and wishes
      to gain exposure to various players in the implementation process of the
      Bay Area wide Bike to Work Day event.  Candidate should have strong
      interpersonal skills with a knack for detail and organization, and
      experience in event coordination.

      Job duties:  Potential job duties may include but are not limited to:

      .                 Assist in coordinating Bike to Work Day (BTWD) planning efforts
      along with local bicycle coalitions, County Teams, Team Captains,
      government agencies, transit agencies, employers and other key
      .                 Attend monthly Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings at
      the Metropolitan Transportation Center (MTC) in Oakland.  Assistant
      coordinator will be expected to help prepare for meetings and take
      minutes during the meetings
      .                 Oversee the production of Bike to Work Day promotional materials
      .                 Distribute promotional materials to county teams and other key
      county agencies
      .                 Solicit donations for food/beverage, give-aways, cash and prizes
      .                 Assist with management of all correspondence
      .                 Perform large scale mailings and packet production
      .                 Other tasks related to the production of BTWD

      Qualifications and experience:
      .                 Excellent communication skills
      .                 Experience in organizing and coordination events
      .                 Experience with databases and mailings
      .                 Experience with media contact, outreach and solicitation
      .                 Ability to coordinate complex logistical tasks
      .                 A team player who is willing to learn and contribute to this
      very exciting event

      Interviews will take place March 21 and March 22.  Start date will be
      March 28.  Compensation will be $18-$20/hour depending upon experience.
      Assistant Coordinator will be expected to work for ten weeks from March
      28 through June 3 which is a total of 240 hours, an average of 20 hours
      a week with the remaining 40 hours worked in May, especially preceding
      and following Bike to Work Day.

      Timesheets will be submitted the first Friday of the month in April, May
      and June.  Payment will be provided by the Bay Area Bicycle Coalition
      within two weeks.
