Spend a Week in Washington, DC, Learning How Transportation Policies Are Developed!

Are you interested in learning how transportation policies are shaped and ultimately determined at the national level?  The Eno Transportation Foundation is now accepting nominations for its 13th Annual Leadership Development Conference. Students accepted will take part in workshop sessions with top officials
from federal agencies, congress, and national transportation organizations that play key roles in formulating and carrying out transportation policies. The all-expenses-paid conference will be held May 23-27, 2005, in Washington, DC.
      _____________

The Department of City and Regional Planning faculty will nominate one current M.U.P. student for this exciting conference in May designed to help transportation students develop the skills needed to hold leadership positions in the profession.     I participated myself as a student and found it a wonderful experience.

You can find more information about the program at http://www.enotrans.com/News/2005EnoLDCCall.pdf.  (Note that this includes instructions to faculty in how to chose a nominee, which will help you to craft your application materials.)

If you would like the department to consider nominating you, you must *email* me a resume (2 pages maximum) and a one page statement of interest explaining why you would like to participate in the conference and how it will help you to achieve your professional goals.  The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 27.  Department faculty will select one student among those who apply, choosing the student who most clearly meets the criteria established by the program:

"Your nominee should be a student whom you believe demonstrates leadership abilities and who ultimately could qualify for a senior management or executive position in a transportation-related organization."

If you have any questions about the program or the nomination process, please feel free to contact me.
