      [Bowling League]

      Dear Students,
Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) invites students of
member planning universities to apply for the position of Student
Representative on the ACSP Board for the term of 2005-2007.

      Mission:
The mission of the Student Representatives is to ensure that the concerns of
students are reflected in the discussions and decisions of the ACSP
Governing Board. The two Student Representatives serve alternating, two-year
terms. In order to be eligible, students must be enrolled in an ACSP member
planning program for the entire length of their term. A committee composed
of the ACSP Vice President and the current student representatives selects
and the President confirms the new student representative.

      History:
The two Student Representatives on the Governing Board serve alternating,
two-year terms.  In order to be eligible, students must be enrolled in an
ACSP member planning program for the entire length of their term.  A
committee composed of the ACSP Vice President and the current student
representatives selects and the President confirms the new student
      representative.
Student Representatives are reimbursed by ACSP for half of the
transportation and lodging costs for ACSP conferences, and half of the
transportation and one night of lodging for non-ACSP conferences where their
attendance is expected for a board meeting. The students’ school departments
are expected to cover the other portion of transportation and lodging.

      Immediate Tasks:
      •                 The candidate when selected will be required to work on updating and
maintaining the ACSP Student Network Website. Therefore some expertise in
web-design and maintenance is expected from the applicant.
      •                 Preferable to have some knowledge on moderating a list-serve.
      •                 Work on issues and services put forth by the former student
      representative.
      •                 Commitment to understanding the dynamics of urban and regional
development, enhancing planning practices, and improving the education of
      both novice and experienced planners.
      •                 The ACSP believes that planning education should extend beyond the
classroom and into the world of practice working closely with practicing
      professionals and communities.
      •                 Participate in the discussions and decisions of the Executive
      Committee

      How to Apply:
Send us a personal statement(2 pages) as why you should be selected as the
Student Representative, what you would like to achieve and bring to the
committee as a representative of students.

Please send in your statement to one of the two student representatives by
      January 31, 2005 at supreme@... or rmasse2@...
