Call for ACSP Student Representative (2005-2007)

Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) invites students of
member planning universities to apply for the position of Student
Representative on the ACSP Board for the term of 2005-2007.
The mission of the Student Representatives is to ensure that the concerns of
students are reflected in the discussions and decisions of the ACSP
Governing Board. The two Student Representatives serve alternating, two-year
terms. In order to be eligible, students must be enrolled in an ACSP member
planning program for the entire length of their term. A committee composed
of the ACSP Vice President and the current student representatives selects
and the President confirms the new student representative.

Student Representatives are reimbursed by ACSP for half of the
transportation and lodging costs for ACSP conferences, and half of the
transportation and one night of lodging for non-ACSP conferences where their
attendance is expected for a board meeting. The students’ school departments
are expected to cover the other portion of transportation and lodging.
• The candidate when selected will be required to work on updating and
maintaining the ACSP Student Network Website. Therefore some expertise in
web-design and maintenance is expected from the applicant.
• Preferable to have some knowledge on moderating a list-serve.
• Work on issues and services put forth by the former student
• Commitment to understanding the dynamics of urban and regional
development, enhancing planning practices, and improving the education of
both novice and experienced planners.
• The ACSP believes that planning education should extend beyond the
classroom and into the world of practice working closely with practicing
professionals and communities.
• Participate in the discussions and decisions of the Executive

committee as a representative of students.
