      ELECTION ACTIVITIES AT SJSU

Professors Katherine Kao Cushing, Roberto Gonzalez and Patricia Evridge
Hill, all from the College of Social Sciences, are participating in a
seminar for the campus and community on "What are the Most Important
Issues in this U.S. Presidential Election?" The seminar is open to the
campus community and the public on Tuesday, Oct. 12, from noon to 1:30
p.m. at the King Library, room 225.

Anne Marie Todd, assistant professor of communication studies, along
with James Brent, associate professor of political science, and Bob
Rucker, associate professor of journalism and mass communications, have
organized three cross-disciplinary sessions for students to view the
presidential debates. Todd is an expert in debate strategies and
techniques. Following the debate, the professors lead a discussion with
the students and encourage them to share their thoughts and questions.
The last session, on Wednesday, Oct. 13, will be held in Washington
Square Hall 207, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. There has been some media
coverage of this effort. Contact Todd at amt@....
