      Energy-Efficient Design of Cleanroom Facilities

Wednesday, October 13, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm at the West Valley Library in
      San
Jose This seminar will focus on what can be done to lower energy use in
cleanroom facilities. Between 25% and 50% of all energy used in cleanrooms
is for the HVAC systems. Often these systems can be made more efficient
without compromising safety or redundancy. Peter Rumsey, P.E., will
      discuss
in detail strategies for improving the efficiency of fan and cooling
      systems
and will include fan filter units. He will cover both new and existing
buildings, with a special section of the presentation focusing on easily
implemented opportunities. He will draw upon work in over 40 cleanrooms
throughout the country. Peter is a member of ASHRAE and is on the ASHRAE
      Technical Committee for Cleanrooms, TC9.11.

**SPECIAl NOTE**** This is a TWO DAY workshop

      Facilities (2-Day Class) October 20 (Wednesday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm) &
October 21 (Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm)

The intent of this two-day workshop is to develop the energy auditing
      skills
of individuals associated with small-and medium-sized (under 500 kW)
commercial facilities. Instructors will provide an overview of building
technologies with an emphasis on distinguishing older, inefficient
      equipment
from newer efficient systems. In-class exercises and a mock-audit at the
      end
of the second day will allow the attendees to apply what they have
      learned.
Though geared to the non-experts, attendees should have a fundamental
understanding of building components and energy concepts.
