Attention! The Forum at Redwood City: A Continuing Conversation on City Design is starting its new season!

Transforming Failed Shopping Centers into Successful Neighborhoods

      Presented by Victor Dover

      Wednesday, October 6th, 2004

      6:00pm

      Little Fox Theatre

      2209 Broadway, Downtown Redwood City

Please join us at The Forum at Redwood City on Wednesday, OCTOBER 6th, 2003, from 6:00 - 7:45pm!  Dont miss what promises to be an interesting and dynamic evening!

Jointly produced by Communities By Design (CBD), a local nonprofit, and the City of Redwood City, The Forum at Redwood City will feature a presentation by VICTOR DOVER, a nationally-recognized town planner and urban designer and a Charter Member of the Congress for the New Urbanism, on: TRANSFORMING FAILED SHOPPING CENTERS INTO SUCCESSFUL NEIGHBORHOODS.

Mr. Dover is a dynamic and engaging speaker who lectures across the country on livable communities and sustainable development. On October 6th, he will share his ideas for making town centers from old malls. Across the country, an aging generation of shopping malls and strip centers is in steep decline. These obsolete properties (greyfields) are often logical choices for infill and mixed-use town centers, a win-win scenario for developers, citizen activists, and the environment. Come learn about Dover Kohls cutting-edge work in south Florida and Chattanooga, Tennessee and discuss how these concepts might be applied here.

A flier for the event is attached. The fee for the Forum is $10 (payable at the door, checks or cash). The Forum will be held at the Little Fox Theatre, located at 2209 Broadway in Redwood City. Doors open at 5:30pm. (Please note that due to State regulations, attendance at the Little Fox Theatre is limited to persons over 21.)

The presentation and discussion will be followed by an optional, no-host dinner with the speaker at a nearby restaurant in downtown Redwood City.

If you need any additional information, please feel free to contact Dan Zack at the City of Redwood City at (650) 780-7363 or dzack@....

Please share this information with your staff and colleagues who might be interested in attending.  We hope to see you on October 6th!
