      About EARN
      The Earned Assets Resource Network (EARN) is one of the nation's leading
      organizations dedicated to creating and expanding low- and moderate-income
      peoples' access to wealth. EARN pursues this primarily through the use of
      Individual Development Accounts (IDAs), financial literacy and connections
      to mainstream banks. IDAs are matched savings accounts (similar to a
      that can be used for high return investments such as education,
      homeownership, and microenterprise development. EARN opens accounts
      directly and through our network, which currently includes Bayview
      Resource Center, , Chinese Newcomers Service Center, Juma Ventures,
      LIFETIME, Women's Initiative for Self Employment, One Economy, and The
      and County of San Francisco Department of Human Services.

      EARN has opened over 500 IDAs, making it one of the largest IDA
      in the nation. In the past 18 months, our savers have invested $100,000 in
      assets - and this has leveraged over $2.5 million in mortgages,
      loans and small business capital.

      EARN also drives the large-scale provision of asset building products and
      services to the working poor by modeling scale at the ground level and
      pursuing policy change at the county and state level.

      EARN is poised to make significant strides forward in marketing its
      and success to individual donors, but needs a seasoned development and
      external affairs professional to help take the organization to this next
      level. The Development Manager will play a critical role in assuring EARN
      has the resources to carry out its mission. Working closely with the
      Executive Director, Associate Director and Board, the Development
      duties will include the following:

      * Manage creation of fundraising infrastructure, including database
      technology, reporting systems and programmatic elements;
      * Manage creation and implementation of annual fund and major gift
      * Conduct and manage research on individual donor prospects;
      * Manage reporting process to donors and other funders -
      * On a limited basis, conduct research on and craft proposals for new and
      existing foundation funders;
      * Manage Asset Builder of the Year Award (Inaugural recipient in 2004:
      Gavin Newsom)
      * Work closely with ED and Board to cultivate and solicit major gifts;
      * Work closely with ED and Associate Director to develop key message and
      marketing tools;
      * Work with ED, Associate Director and Board to craft public relations and
      marketing strategy;

      Successful candidates will have experience in marketing and
      have a track record of successful fundraising ($50k+ from foundations,
      from individuals), will be able to develop analytic tools to measure
      fundraising success, and have the management acumen to use feedback to
      improve EARN's fundraising operations. Must be a strong team player, have
      entrpreneurial spirit, and be nimble enough to make midstream adjustments.
