Summary The Research Assistant will be hired through the San Francisco Public Health Foundation to support the San Francisco Indicator Project Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) impending update of the data on the SF indicator Project. Position Background and Description The Environmental Health Branch is accepting applications for one (1) as-needed, non-benefited Research Assistant to support the data revision and update of the San Francisco Indicator Project (www.sfindicatorproject.org), and other related Health in All Policies work. The San Francisco Indicator Project is a neighborhood-level data system that measures how San Francisco performs in eight dimensions of a healthy, equitable community. The goal of this project is to support collaboration, planning, decision making, and advocacy for social and physical environments that meet the needs of all citizens. Working closely with Senior Epidemiologists and the Manager of Planning and Fiscal Policy, the Assistant will be responsible for conducting literature reviews; gathering, cleaning, and analyzing geospatial data; writing up results; supporting inter-agency collaborations; and assisting with health impact assessment activities. The Assistant will work as a part of an agency team in collaboration with other city agencies and may support team training and evaluation efforts. Under the general supervision of a section Epidemiologist, the Research Assistant will perform the following essential job functions: ï‚§ Collect, clean, analyze, and present geospatial data on environmental and social determinants of health. ï‚§ Perform literature reviews on the linkage between aspects of our physical and social environments and health outcomes. ï‚§ Support the Technical Advisory Committee and Steering Committee for the San Francisco Indicator Project. ï‚§ Assist with and attend our summer Health Impact Assessment Training. ï‚§ Perform related duties as required.
