      (Community Development Department)
      $15 hourly, 30 hours per week
      Temporary assignment 05/01/10 - 09/30/10

      POSITION: The Community Development Department assists the City
      Council with planning for the City’s future development and reviewing
      proposed development projects for conformance with the City’s adopted
      policies and ordinances. The Department also manages many
      sustainability-related efforts, including development of a Climate
      Action Plan and coordination of the City’s energy conservation
      The Administrative Intern will perform a variety of administrative
      duties in support of functions and programs related to energy
      conservation. The primary assignment will be spearheading a Community
      Grants Program, one of the activities funded by the City’s Energy
      Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG).

      -Develop grant announcement and criteria for evaluating grant proposals.
      -Organize a committee to review and rank proposals.
      -Draft staff report to Council to approve the grant awards.
      -Coordinate preparation of sub-contracts.
      -Serve as a resource to grantees as they begin program implementation.
      -Perform related duties as assigned.

      REQUIREMENTS: The Community Development Department is searching for an
      effective team player who is able to prioritize, work independently
      with minimal supervision and handle all matters with sensitivity and
      confidentiality. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to
      communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, and have
      demonstrated skill in detail-oriented work. The successful candidate
      must also demonstrate an understanding of energy conservation programs
      and an ability to work with non-profit agencies.

      Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the
      knowledge and skills necessary to satisfactory job performance would
      be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and
      skills would be: possession of a BA/BS or currently enrolled in a
      four-year university majoring in Environmental Studies or other
      closely related field, plus volunteer or work experience related to
