SSV Monthly Meeting: Alternative Growth Scenarios for the Bay Area
      through 2035

      Friday, October 31, 2008

Redwood City Council Chambers, City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Rd.
      Redwood City, 94063

Half of the Bay Area's CO2 emissions come from the transportation
sector. How this might change over the next 25 years depends
considerably on how our cities and region are developed. ABAG (the
Association of Bay Area Governments) has developed two detailed
alternative development scenarios through 2035, Scattered Success and
Focused Future, as planning tools. Presentations by Christie Riviera and
Paul Fassinger of the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG); and
Dan Zack, City of Redwood City

No charge. Registration is not required but RSVPs to Rick Row
appreciated. Click here for online agenda

SSV Monthly Meeting: Two Paths to Green Cities--Masdar, Abu Dhabi, & San
      Jose, CA

      9-10:30 AM
      Mexican Heritage Plaza
1700 Alum Rock Ave., San Jose, 95116

If we are to achieve sustainability globally, dramatic differences to
the design of both greenfield and existing cities will be required in
the near future. Marsdar is being designed as the world's first new
zero-carbon, zero-waste community; and San José is being transformed in
accordance with the ten goals of its fifteen-year Green Vision by
      retrofitting cutting-edge sustainable practices.
