      GIS Intern

      City of Oakland

Community and Economic Development Agency – Planning and Zoning Division

The City of Oakland Planning and Zoning Division is seeking an intern to help staff to conduct spatial analysis and prepare maps using ArcGIS for several on-going projects.  On-going projects include updating the City's zoning regulations to be in conformance with the City's General Plan, updating the Housing Element of the General Plan, and preparing a Bicycle Parking Ordinance, among other projects.  The internship provides a great opportunity to learn about long-range and current planning at the City.

Interested persons should be comfortable using ArcGIS, which would include, at a minimum, having skills in basic map design, performing attribute and spatial queries, and basic geoprocessing (clipping, dissolving, etc.).  Advanced GIS skills and/or knowledge of other graphics programs (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop) or AutoCad, is a plus.

The internship pays $15-20/hour; days per week is flexible and could range from 3-5 days/week.

Please send (email is OK) a resume and contact information to:
