      The Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) is interested in

      Policy Analyst
      Policy Analyst applicants should have considerable practical
      experience with the formulation and implementation of public policy
      on topics of relevance to California. The position requires
      excellent research and quantitative capabilities, very good writing
      skills, and a master's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant

      Summer Internships
      PPIC has four internship opportunities available for the summer of
      2008. PPIC internships revolve around specific policy research
      projects. Interns work closely with the project leader to
      accomplish the tasks laid out for each project. The position is
      based in the San Francisco office, and pays $16/hour. The

      Research Associate – Economic Development
      We seek a research associate to provide support for researchers
      working on economic development, job creation, entrepreneurship, and
      business policy. Responsibilities include (but are not necessarily
      limited to) performing statistical analysis, organizing and
      maintaining databases, conducting literature searches, abstracting
      documents, and presenting research results. The position requires
      strong research and quantitative capabilities, an interest in the
      topic areas, and a BA or equivalent experience. The position is

      Community Affairs Manager

      The Community Affairs Manager develops, executes, and maintains
      outreach programs that: 1) play a substantial role in helping PPIC
      accomplish its mission of informing and improving public policy; 2)
      effectively disseminate and explain PPIC's research to a diverse
      audience; and 3) establish the reputation of PPIC staff as resources
      for policymakers, the media, and other communities. Requirements
      include a Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of five years experience
      in public relations, marketing, and/or communications in public or
      private sector; a minimum two years of managerial experience, and
      expert knowledge of and contacts in California's local governments
