      The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Washington,
      D.C. has two positions open in the Office of Policy Development and Research
      (PDR): Social Science Analyst and Economist. The deadline for applications
      is November 16, 2005.

      Social Science Analyst. Member of Policy Development Division, responsible
      for analyzing policy issues related to HUD programs. Should understand the
      policy issues and HUD programs related to one or more housing and community
      development area such as: supportive housing for the elderly or persons with
      disabilities, housing and community development in rural areas,
      homeownership programs, economic and community development, or assisted
      housing programs. Ability to design and use the results of program
      evaluation or research studies to develop policy and program options and
      recommendations expected.

      Economist. Member of Policy Development Division, serves as a resource on
      issues related to demand for and supply of housing, socioeconomic aspects of
      housing and community development programs, relationship of housing
      assistance to mainstream social service programs. Should understand two or
      more of the following: urban housing markets, economics and demography of
      poverty and inequality, principal housing and community development
      programs. Comprehensive knowledge of economic theory and principles, ability
      to design and conduct research, and to use results of program evaluation and
      research to develop policy options and recommendations expected.
