      Poleng Lounge
      One of the most popular trends of late is dishes from many Asian
      cultures on the same menu. What sets Poleng Lounge apart is the
      young chef-owner Tim Luym, a 2007 Chronicle Rising Star chef. His
      heritage is Chinese and Spanish, but he grew up in Manila. His
      varied background shows up on the menu: Filipino ceviche with
      butterfish; curried corn fritters; Madras samosas; and bok choy
      steamed with shiitake sauce. Tea, a specialty, is also included in
      many drinks and some dishes. The interior feels like a tropical
      oasis, with a dance club in back that's also used for private
      events.
      Specialties:
      Buddha's Treasures (tea-sprinkled dumplings); garlic crab noodles;
      beef tenderloin with marrow; tea-based cocktails.
      Prices: $6-$15
