This Wed. evening, Sept. 18 at 6 pm, at the Opera Plaza Community Room, 601 Van Ness, San Francisco, listen to an amazing tour de force by Dr. Robert Lustig, MD, entitled, "Sugar: The Bitter Truth." Hosted by the Santa Cruz County County Office of Education, Dr. Lustig, Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, and Director of the Weight Assessment for Teen and Child Health (WATCH) Program at UCSF, speaks via video about the role of sugar and the contribution of biochemical, neural, hormonal, and genetic influences in the expression of the current obesity epidemic both in children and adults.

This is an amazing presentation chock-full of nutritional and biochemical information. Dr. Lustig goes into great depth about the impact of sugar and fructose on body chemistry. His presentation provides valuable information which you can utilize in preventing or reversing obesity.

Before the presentation, enjoy a fabulous vegan dinner planned by a certified Nutrition Consultant, Patricia Allen Koot, NE, NC. Patricia continues to come up with delicious vegan dishes, for example her vegan mostaccioli this past Wed., her sugar-free and oil-free cakes, vegan lasagnes and much more.

The dinner is all vegan and totally healt-supporting, made without eggs, dairy, honey, oil or added sugars. Not only do the dishes taste good. They are designed around nutritional excellence, specially planned to help people deal with the stresses of urban living.

And, it is all you can eat. Bring a container and take some home with you.

Location is the Opera Plaza Community Room, 601 Van Ness, San Francisco. Take the elevator to the first floor, then security will key you down to the mezzanine for the event.

A fifteen dollar requested donation covers the all you can eat vegan dinner plus the presentation on sugar. The Nutritionist donates her time. Funds go toward facility rental, food, transport and other costs.
