      Comfort eating? Food can help when someone is hurting. BUT a better and lasting solution is to heal the hurt. Don't hang onto suffering. Instead, say goodbye to it! Then dieting can become so much easier.

      This Wed. evening, May 29 at 6 pm, at the Opera Plaza Community Room, 601 Van Ness, San Francisco, Amy Hyun Swart, MA, MFTI, will present an important and potentially life-changing lecture, entitled, Why We Hold Onto Suffering."

      Ms. Swart is a mental health clinician, yoga instructor, and visual artist. She enjoys working with people to help them gain insight and make healthy changes in their lives from a space where yoga, creativity, and mental health intersect. Amy has led yoga, art, and psychotherapy workshops for stress reduction, mindfulness, and partner yoga for deepening connection. She was published in the International Journal for Yoga Therapy in 2011 for her article, "Partner Yoga for Establishing Boundaries In Relationship: A Transpersonal Somatic Approach." Amy currently teaches a weekly Kundalini Yoga and Meditation class at Satori Yoga Studio in Downtown San Francisco and provides low-fee mental health counseling in the San Francisco Bay Area.       In "Why We Hold onto Suffering," Amy will invite listeners in to explore their own mental landscapes, their relationship to pain, and the subtle transformation pain makes into suffering. Taken from clinical observations in her work with children, teenagers, adults, and elders, as well as her own personal experience, Amy will address the curious conundrum of why even the most intellectually astute have a tendency to hold onto suffering, and most importantly, what can be done to let it go. Listeners are invited to engage in breathing and meditation exercises, partner activities, and thought journaling as a way to more fully absorb the content of this presentation.

      Before her presentation, enjoy a fabulous vegan dinner prepared by a certified Nutrition Consultant. All vegan, all health-supporting, no eggs, dairy, honey, oil or added sugars. Patricia Allen Koot, NE, NC, has developed an outstanding reputation throughout the Bay Area.

      As a certified Nutritionist, Patricia has designed the dinner to meet the special nutritional needs associated with living in a stressful urban environment. Many people have commented about the sense of well-being they experience after eating Patricia's dinners.

      The dinner is all you can eat. Bring a container and take some home with you.

      It all happens on Wed. May 29 at 6 pm, at the Opera Plaza Community Room, 601 Van Ness, San Francisco. Take the elevator to the first floor, then security will key you down to the mezzanine for the event.

      A fifteen dollar requested donation covers the all you can eat vegan dinner and the lecture. Both the Nutritionist and the Therapist are donating their time. Funds go toward facility rental, food, transport and other costs.
