      This unique Japanese style food is based on Zen monks of Japan
      featuring a seasonal cuisine called New-Shojin incorporating western
      nutritional ideas with traditional menus with exotic names and
      ingredients developed over half a millennium ago. Appetizers range
      from $4.50 to $6.50 and feature intriguing items like: Jade Nuggets,
      tempura of natto-filled shiso leaves with lemon & sea salt $5;
      Mountain Monk Te-Maki, two hand-rolls: Chrysanthemum leaf, pickled
      gourd/natto, 9-grain rice, flax seeds $5.50; Inari & Napa Cabbage
      Roll, napa cabbage roll with pickled melon, avocado, shichimi/sweet
      inari with 9-grain rice $6.50. The Salads are just as interesting
      ranging in price from $6.50 to $7.50 featuring common veggies in an
      uncommon way: Warm Spinach-Persimmon, baby spinach tossed in warm
      ponzu dressing, fuyu persimmons, shitake, toasted cashews $7.50;
      Sesame Lotus-Shitake, simmered woodear & shitake, crisp shaved lotus
      root, fuji apples, creamy sesame dressing $8. In addition to Soups &
      Noodles from $6 to $8, there are unique Entrée choices ranging from
      $15 to $18 like: Broiled Ikomi Dengaku, whole oven-roasted red bell
      pepper filled with yomogi-fu, eggplant, brussel sprouts tofu, shiro
      miso glaze $15; Raw Nigiri Sushi, 8-piece nigiri plate accompanied by
      silken tofu and winter miso soup $16.50; Fried Tempura, deluxe basket
      of seasonal vegetables and mushrooms in light batter tendashi,
      dipping broth, & meyer lemon $16. They also offer Tasting Menus (with
      6 or 9 course Samplers). Their dessert menu from $3 to $6 offers:
      Chilled Coconut Cup, creamy coconut milk with maple syrup, kanten
      cubes, silverear mushroom & toasted buckwheat $4; Green-Tea Tofu,
      mildly sweet soy custard, infused with bitter matcha green tea powder
      $4; or slightly decadent Chocolate Mousse, exquisite valrhona
      chocolate blended with silken tofu & toasted pistachio shavings $6.
      They have a variety of Drinks, Housemade Juices, Teas, Coffee, Beer,
      Organic Wine and a variety of exotic Premium Sakes with delightful
      names: Ohyama "big mountain," Sogen "pride of samurai,"
      Kikuhime "chrysanthemum princess," or Tamanohikari "brilliant jade".
