[feel free to skip the explanation of why i am inviting you to dinner at my
house - just scroll to the last paragraph for essential details]
i was at cafe gratitude just the other day eating (fabulous peach cobbler)
& testing out the board game that was so patiently explained to me by the
lovely owner. if you haven't played the board game, it's something like an
awareness and self-awareness course put into a board game format. you roll
dice and move tokens around the board. landing on different spots will
signal you to take and read aloud various cards with exercises and
for instance, my friend was instructed to think about and share a
characteristic of himself that he feels keeps him from being happy. i've
honestly forgotten what his take home activity was, but it something to do
with remembering that characteristic and telling himself that he doesn't
need it every day for a week.
so on my 2nd round, i drew a card that (among other things which i don't
remember right now) said: make a meal for a stranger.
which i thought was a pretty lovely idea. i thought a little bit about how
i might come upon a stranger (or two) and then figured i would put this out
to this email list, since i am new to it and assume that you are all
strangers to me. and since i can't make it to the potluck this sunday...
i thought i might make (a simple) dinner at my house in san francisco next
monday evening for the first couple of people who let me know they can
come. i trend towards earlier dinners and would love to do it around 6:30
or 7p, but well - rigidity in any habit isn't a useful thing. so, if this
offer speaks to you - let me know. i'd love to make you a meal.
