I'd seen the "Earthlings" film reviewed somewhere and found it at the local library. It is an unusually comprehensive look at the many ways our species abuses, exploits, and sometimes tortures our fellow species/Earthlings via the animal products industries, circuses, rodeos, research labs, etc. I have seen a number of films about animal rights and slaughterhouses and this would seem the most thorough as well as the most gut- and heart-wrenching I've seen.
I wouldn't recommend it for young children who could be traumatized, but only for mature young people and adults who would rather know, than not know, what really happens to billions of animals in a great many places in America and worldwide. One quote from the narrator, vegan actor Joaquin Phoenix: "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, we'd all be vegetarians." And a more controversial quote from Tolstoy: "As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields." For those interested in this film, further information may be found at www.earthlings.com.
