with all of the discussion about food safety, almond pasteurization, etc, i
just wanted to remind you all of a great place to go if you want to grow
your own food in san francisco -- alemany farm.
we have a workday coming up this sunday if you want to come and check it
out. our workdays are the first and third sundays of the month, and the
saturdays on weekends in between. directions and a map are at
because it can be tricky to find the first time.
(it's off highway 280 near the alemany farmers market and housing
projects.) there are sometimes people there during the week, so if you
can't go on a weekend you can try to arrange a weekday visit.
we are currently growing
fava beans (though the last of them may have been cut down ... does anyone
know if it's toxic to eat too many of them raw?)
artichokes (only a few)
and we will be planting soon
more herbs and flowers
let me know if you have any questions about it. i'd love to meet some of
there you there!
