Science Fiction Science with THEM!
Join San Diego Natural History Museum scientists to lampoon
campy sci-fi movies at
Science Fiction Science: THEM!
Science has never been so snarky.
Just when you thought you had that bug problem under control…
along comes THEM!
Wednesday, April 3; 7 PM
What starts out as a simple detective story soon spirals into a deliciously schlocky 1950s black-and-white monster movie that is now considered one of the best science fiction films of that decade. Godzilla’s got nothing on these 10-foot ants that embodied our worst nuclear nightmares of the post-WWII era.
We love this movie because the entomologist is the hero. Them! was nominated for an Oscar for special effects and starred James Whitmore, Edmund Gwenn, Joan Weldon and James Arness. Arness later achieved widespread fame playing the marshal in the TV series Gunsmoke.
Wednesday, April 3; 7 PM
Dr. Entomo's Palace of Exotic Wonders will be open from 6 to 6:45 PM for film-goers.
