Subject: SfAA 2005 -- Sante Fe Update

Here is news from the Society for Applied Anthropolog on the 2005
      Annual Meeting!

The plans for the 2005 Annual Meeting are moving forward and there are
some new developments of interest to all members and potential

      1. Hotels. The La Fonda Hotel will serve as the host hotel. In
addition, several other hotels and a range of room prices and amenities
will be available. A limited number of government rate rooms will be
available at these hotels on a first-come, first-served basis. In
      addition, we have identified a first-class bed-and-breakfast
establishment for those who enjoy that type of lodging. Rates for all
of these options will be available on the SfAA web,
<http://www.sfaa.net>, site by mid-August. or additional information
      and rates.

      2. Santa Fe/New Mexico Focus. The Program Chair, Erve Chambers, has
developed plans for a "Santa Fe/New Mexico" Day. Regular sessions will
be organized around local/regional issues/themes and
information-intensive and walking tours will be available on topics
such as the architectural and tourism history of Santa Fe, Native
American vendors at the Palace of Governors, local food co-ops, and the
      School of American Research.

      3. Museum Access. The Society will provide registrants with
complimentary access passes to the major museums in Santa Fe as well as
a free shuttle bus rotating from the hotels to "Museum Hill" (venue for
the Laboratory of Anthropology, the Museum of Folk Art, the Wheelwright
      Museum, etc.).

      4. Abstract Submissions. We expect that a record-breaking number of
registrants will submit abstracts for the Santa Fe Program. If you wish
to participate in the Program, it is important that you submit your
paper or poster abstract at your earliest convenience, and according to
the directions. The same is true for session abstracts.
Pre-registration and abstract submissions may be completed
electronically; please go to the web page and click on "Annual
Meeting". Please take advantage of the online process and make your
      submissions early.

Please contact the SfAA Office you have any questions or wish
      additional information.

As always, thank you for your support.
