~ Permission to distribute ~
Community Information Now (CI:Now) is hiring a full-time Program Manager for Research to join a small team of passionate, innovative, community-minded data and community engagement geeks. CI:Now is a source of local data and information for community improvement: among other specialties, we collect, analyze, visualize, and communicate data and information that planners, service providers, advocates, and ordinary residents use to transform neighborhoods and solve community problems. CI:Now works closely with many strong local organizations and place-based initiatives that both need and generate data related to education, health, employment, housing, crime and safety, the natural environment, and civic vitality.
The candidate hired for this position will use strong quantitative skills and experience to create actionable information from diverse secondary administrative and survey datasets. He or she will be able to help conceptualize projects and analyses, proactively identifying data needs that community users may not even be able to articulate. He or she will be able to work independently and as part of a team, to mentor and supervise junior staff and interns, and to contribute to the evidence base and the national community of practice through the National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership (http://www.neighborhoodindicators.org) and other networks. The right candidate has a "figure it out" orientation and is curious, flexible, persistent, and interested in complex social issues.
The ideal candidate has a master's or doctoral degree in statistics, epidemiology, public health, applied research, or a related field, but a bachelor's degree may suffice with demonstrated skills and at least five years of experience. Solid knowledge of MS Office and STATA, SPSS, SAS, or equivalent statistical application is absolutely required. The candidate should be skilled in the acquisition of secondary data, complex survey analysis, and the management of large datasets, and preferably have experience writing grant applications and developing papers for peer-reviewed publication. Formal project management experience and knowledge of GIS and other forms of data visualization are not required but are a plus. Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
The position is housed with CI:Now at the San Antonio Regional Campus of the University of Texas School of Public Health and offers excellent benefits; for more information, please visit the UTHealth HR site at http://hr.uth.tmc.edu/ or call 713-500-3935.
