      Happy Holidays from the
      South Carolina Autism Society!

The South Carolina Autism Society would like to extend holiday greetings to all families affected by autism.  We hope that the New Year will bring good health and happiness to you and your loved ones.

If there is any way that we can assist your family, please call your closest SC Autism Society office, or simply contact our main office in Columbia.  Just a few of the services we provide at no charge include:

      • Information and Referral:  Providing information to parents and professionals about autism and available services.
      • Advocacy:  SCAS provides advocacy on all levels from the individual level on up to the system change level.
      • Autism and Informed Response:  Training for emergency responders (law enforcement, EMS, fire fighters, etc) on autism, using parent volunteers.
      • Parent-School Partnership:  PSP seeks to assist children with autism in receiving the best education possible by helping to build relationships between the school and the parents.
      • Service Coordination:  Is an expansion of the society’s existing programs of information and referral and advocacy.  SCAS will provide service coordination to individuals with autism spectrum disorders.

As you wrap up 2013, we ask that you consider supporting the South Carolina Autism Society through your end-of-the-year donations.  Your support will help us continue to reach out to families and to expand our services in South Carolina without a waiting list or limiting the amount of support we can offer.

Thank you in advance for your support. Please remember, more than 93 cents of every dollar goes directly to programs and your donation is tax deductible. (From the SC Secretary of State website.)

You can donate by mailing a check to SC Autism Society, 806 12th Street, West Columbia, SC  29169, or online by visiting www.scautism.org, or click here now.

Introducing South Carolina Autism Society on i-Text!

      How does it work?

      • Sign up for the South Carolina Autism Society i-Text group, and agree to receive no more than 3 text messages per day, starting in October.
      • For each text sent to your phone, the South Carolina Autism Society earns money!  You don’t even have to open the text message!  Just delete it if you want! Your only obligation is to merely receive the offers.
      • You may want to open those messages though, as they will contain special offers from local and national companies who want your business.  Some of the national companies include McDonalds, Nike, P&G, Coke, and MORE!
      • There’s a chance one of those messages may even include one of the ‘no strings attached’ winning sweepstakes messages, worth up to $5,000!

All messages are family-friendly.  I-Text will not accept advertising involving alcohol, tobacco, weapons, or adult themes.  Messages will only be sent during regular businesses hours in your time zone.  There is no risk involved – cancel at any time.

      Memberships

We have come a long way in our knowledge about autism and the education and treatments that best help children with autism spectrum disorders.  Nonetheless, there is still much work to be done.  You can make a difference by volunteering your time or resources to the South Carolina Autism Society.  You can join even if you don’t have a family member with autism, but want to help out in some way.  A financial contribution might cover the costs of printing materials or long distance telephone calls to support a family living in a remote part of our state.
