PAL Baseball is now open for Registration: Online Registration is open now and will remain open until March 5th (in order to get a team shirt and hat when play starts). The web address is http://www.pineviewdyb.com/home.php?layout=1125
PAL baseball is the Personal Assist League, meaning an adult or a 'well-bodied' young adult will assist the special needs child play baseball while the parents sit in the bleachers and watch the games. Parents will have a chance to meet and share with other special needs parents while the game is being played. You may realize that this PAL baseball program is 'most likely' the only opportunity for the special needs child to participate on a 'TEAM' sport, and the child has the opportunity to participate regardless of their needs.
Age requirements for the child to participate is 4 years old or older.
Games are played in West Columbia, just off Hwy 1 near I-26. Games are played on a 'MIRACLE Field' which is an astro-turf field with bases painted on the field so that children in wheel chairs and others with walkers can run the bases without obstruction.
There is no ‘outs’ and no score is kept. The game consists of 2 innings, where each team bats twice, and plays in the field twice. After the game, players share time together at home plate, with one team yelling ‘Go’ then the other team yells “team’ 3 times before all children makes a lap around the bases to end the day. Games generally are played on Saturday mornings and generally last about 45 minutes.
