Wow. I look at all these people who kept their wedding costs low and am just
amazed. I don't know whether to be happy that I was so lucky to have spent
so little, or ashamed that I was so cheap with my wedding! It was a little
over 1000! I managed to find a lovely Hindu red gown with gold beading and
my husband (bless him for giving in for making me wait to long!) found a
lovely silk gallaba for him to wear. We were married by a Christian priest
who was heavily interested in Celtic lore and mythos, in a really good
imitation of a Hindu wedding ceremony where Monty and I re-wrote the vows to
fit us personally. And I became the kind of person that brings their cat to
      their wedding.

What was a typical medieval wedding like? I had a friend of mine who got
married in a medieval way and she and her husband exchanged symbolic gifts
of what they were bringing to the wedding and to each other. One of hers was
a huge castle made out of Lego's. A promise to provide a wonderful and
peaceful home to the marriage, and to keep him in Lego's for the rest of his
      life.
