The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston has an awesome Textile Collection,
but I don't know if it covers whatever your favorite place & time might
be. (I've mostly looked at it for New England historical stuff.) They
also have a costume section, but I think you have to call ahead for
access AND it begins around 1700. But I have to admit that it's been
20 years since I was there so things may be a bit different now! You
could check their website, I suppose: www.mfa.org
