I am interested in recreating foundation garments for the late middle ages
but I haven't seen much documentation. From my research they seem to
have worn shifts - weighted for the season - but what did these look like?
Some of the styles after 1450 were quite fitted...did
the foundation garments include a girdle of some sort? or was
the under-garment simply tightly fitted to be used in this purpose?
(see the pic of St. Mary Magdalene from the "Altarpiece of the seven
sacraments" c. 1445) Any thoughts, links or references to
P.S. on another note...I came across a pattern for
making crochet bags from recycled plastic grocery bags. I kept it
thinking that it would also make neat camping mats. (quick to make, soft,
cheap, easy to clean, disposable) A bit oop but neat. I would
be happy to share!
